Penelope, Viscountess CobhamPenelope, Viscountess Cobham

Lady Cobham has been chairman of the Museum Prize Trust since its inception. In 2009 she became Chairman of VisitEngland.2009. For 20 years she was responsible for restoring and opening to the public her home, Georgian Hagley Hall in the West Midlands. She developed a successful corporate entertaining and outside catering business to defray the costs of running the last great Palladian house to be built in England. She served on the boards of the English Tourist Board, English Heritage, the Countryside Commission and Historic Royal Palaces before moving to act as the Special Adviser on tourism and heritage in the newly created Department of National Heritage in 1992. Subsequently, she was appointed to the boards of the V&A, British Waterways and the London Docklands Development Corporation, where she led on tourism. She was Deputy Chairman of VisitBritain from 2005 to 2009. In the private sector she currently chairs the Advisory Board of Highland Group International and is a member of the Advisory Board of Pagefield Communications. She is also a director of The Leadership Agency

Director Museums Association. Head of publications and events became MA's first female director in 2014. Heal has a background in journalism, publishing and event creation, and has been the editor of Museums Journal for the past nine years.

 

Christopher JollChristopher Joll

Author and director Christopher Joll was educated at Oxford University. He is currently non-executive chairman designate of MJ2 Ltd and senior partner of MJ2 Events, senior non-executive director of Bisichi Mining PLC, a patron of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums and an advisor to the Household Cavalry Museum Trust. He is also the director of the British Military Tournament and has over 30 years experience of devising, designing, writing, promoting, directing and producing major fund raising events in support of charities.

Ghislaine KenyonGhislaine Kenyon

Ghislaine Kenyon is a freelance arts education consultant and curator. She was Head of Learning at a Somerset House and Deputy Head of Education at the National Gallery, where she set up the ground-breaking ‘Take One Picture’ project. She has curated exhibitions such as the highly successful ‘Tell Me a Picture’ with Quentin Blake, with whom she also worked on an exhibition for the reopening of the Musee du Petit Palais in Paris. She works on Arts and Health projects in both France and the UK. In addition to arts training and development work with teachers, she is an Associate Fellow of the King’s Fund, for whom she contributes to Leadership programmes. In her capacity as arts educator she serves on several arts boards including the Britten-Pears Foundation, Artichoke, The House of Illustration and The Friends of The Institut Français.

Sam MullinsSam Mullins

Director of London Transport Museum since 1994, vice president of AIM (Association of Independent Museums), previously Chairman and Secretary. At LTM responsible for two major developments, Museum Depot at Acton,  first publicly accessible collections facility opened 1999, and  £22m award-winning redevelopment of LTM in Covent Garden, opened 2007. Led Museum’s move to charity status in 2008, author of ‘Underground: How the Tube shaped London’, to be published 2012. History graduate (Pembroke College, Oxford), passionate about museums’ capacity to enrich society today and in the future through an understanding of the past, Previously led radical change of museums in St. Albans, Market Harborough and Much Wenlock. Trustee of  Museum Prize Trust, board member of Museums Association since 2011, board member of International Association of Transport Museums (IATM), past editor of SHCG Journal, past chair of Hertfordshire Curators Group, MA membership since 1978.
